Carbonaceous Chondrite Type 3

This is a rare class of meteorite known as a carbonaceous chondrite. As the name suggests this meteorite contains high levels of carbon. This classification of meteorites is the theorized to have brought the building blocks of life to earth. This is NWA 12322. It’s is the the much desired type 3 shock classification, with virtually unaltered chondrules. The slice was originally acquired from the world famous Areolite Meteorites. This slice is 17.2 grams. The gem case it is in is 2.8 inches by 2.8 inches.
